Maturity Reversal - Switch Reversal - Base Equivalent Posting has Opposite Sign

Both Nasdaq AQT-76156 & Volvo AQT-73793 have raised an issue with the base equivalent postings having an opposite sign to the transactional amount.

The reason the sign of the final revaluation posting is opposite to that of the base equivalent is that we collapse the two required maturity postings to a single entry (given they are posted to the same accounts). This includes:

  • the final revaluation posting (to bring the transactional amount to zero),

  • a clearing entry to bring the base equivalent amount to zero

This is shown on the attached excel.

Whilst the net effect on the financial statements is the same between the shortform (current Quantum functionality) or long form, this causes problem with Interfacing of the entries - as the main ledger may not accept entries with opposite signs.

To address this would require

  • adjustment of the GL matrix for each transaction type

  • adjustment of the revaluation routines (not currently within the matrix) for transaction types that have switch reversal positings
