Post service restart the Bank Importer service doesn't resume processing files that are already in the Processing folders

Concept is no limited to Bank Importer, but any service that is restarted with items midway through processing

This is not a new problem at all but client have noticed it occurring a couple of times. Raising it as a kind of enhancement request from a 'self healing' perspective.

Consider that sometimes the following things may happen when a statement file is midway through processing:

  • Server/service crash

  • Planned or unplanned server/service restart

  • Network/storage blip/outage

This can leave a file (or files) orphaned in the Processing folder:

\\Server\SitePath\BankImportation\Processing\STATEMENT_TYPE\BANK

The only way to get Bank Importer service to "resume" processing the file is to manually intervene and move it/them back to the Import folder:

\\Server\SitePath\BankImportation\Import\STATEMENT_TYPE\BANK

This may end up with some errors/duplicates as (presumably) the service starts again at the beginning of the file. I don't know enough to comment here, just speculating.

Ideally the service should still know about the files in the Processing folder upon startup and be able to resume them properly by itself.

Perhaps consider functionality via the UI for users to requeue the file themselves (without needing direct access to the site folder). But ideally Quantum should recover by itself.

Client are using files but the situation may be more complicated for MQ and such.
